What is Unified Communications
What is Unified Communications exactly? In todays fast moving environment we are used to dealing with multiple
communications devices within the average working day. For example, the average user might get 30 e-mail
messages, 5 faxes, 12 voicemails, 23 phone calls, and 8 SMS Text / Pager messages all within one normal day.
Unified Communications exists to collate all the above types of message and store them in one location -
the in-box - so that the user can collect them in one easy location, whether this be your existing Outlook inbox,
Hotmail or our own Inbox. This eliminates the need to use
separate devices to communicate; there is no need to gather emails (perhaps from various accounts or
websites), check the fax machine, dial the voicemail and check the pager, for all messgaes are unified
in one easy access point. Furthermore, you can send messages from that one central point too.
As well as simplifying the way your messages are handled Unified Communications also simplifies how
your calls are handled. You can choose to direct your Messagepoint either direct to Voicemail, to any other number worldwide,
or to our "Find Me" service. This tries a series of phone number which you preset. If you answer then
Messagepoint previews the caller. You can then choose to either accept of reject the call.
Its all
about simplifying communication; streamlining your messages, and letting you get on with what you're
doing.
In the diagram of the Messagepoit system below it illustrates how you can receive any form of message (represented on the left hand side of the diagram), store it in your Messagepoint Unified Messaging account (The In-box in the middle of the digram) and then collect all of your messages any way you want (represented by the right hand side of the diagram).
